The Summer Session at Boston College offers students an opportunity to continue their academic progress or simply explore an area of interest. Many in-demand elective and core courses are offered during the summer.

Conveniently, most Summer Session courses are offered online asynchronously, making it possible for students to balance coursework with other summer plans. To ensure the quality of the Boston College learning experience, summer courses maintain small class sizes and are offered in two 6-week sessions.

Please note: Boston College does not issue student visas for summer.

Dates and Tuition and Refund Information

Once class begins, students have until the add/drop deadline to drop the course directly in EagleApps, the Boston College registration system, and receive a 100% refund/tuition cancellation. No academic record is maintained when a student drops a course before the add/drop deadline.

After the add/drop deadline, there is no refund or cancellation of tuition. Students are required to pay the full cost of the course after the add/drop deadline. When a student withdraws from a course, a grade of W is recorded on the student’s transcript, and academic credit is not granted. The date of withdrawal is determined based on the submission of the Course Withdrawal Form located on the Student Services Academic Forms page Students are responsible for properly dropping or withdrawing from a course by the applicable related deadline. No longer attending a course does not constitute a drop or withdrawal.
