Family caregiver health and well-being, cardiovascular subclinical markers, psychological distress, health behaviors, lifestyle modification
Soojung Ahn, Ph.D., RN, is an assistant professor at the Connell School of Nursing. Her program of research explores the intersection of psychological and behavioral factors with cardiovascular disease risk among family caregivers of older adults with chronic illness. Dr. Ahn focuses on subclinical cardiovascular conditions—those that are asymptomatic and gradually progress to clinical diseases—as well as the role of psychological distress (including depression, anxiety, and stress) and health behaviors in cardiovascular health. She is particularly interested in developing interventions that leverage mobile health technologies to promote lifestyle modifications, such as stress management, optimal sleep, and a physically active lifestyle. Her work ultimately aims to enhance the health and well-being of older adults living with chronic illness and their caregiver dyads through personalized and accessible approaches. Dr. Ahn is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Heart Association, and the Society of Behavioral Medicine.
